What is Breakers program?
A squad built around young tradespeople who want more.
Not a course. Not a workshop. A community of 350 Queensland apprentices, with 60 selected for the full mentorship program. You get real mentors, real connections, and a network of people who actually get what you are going through.

Is it free?
Yes – 100% free, every step. No sign-up fees, no hidden costs, no catch. The program is funded through Carpentry Australia and TAFE Queensland, so nothing comes out of your pocket from application through to graduation.
What trade do I need to be in?
Right now, the first intake is open to Carpentry apprentices only. Breakers is built to grow into every trade – carpentry is just where we’re starting.
How many spots are there?
60 spots in the first intake, drawn from a wider community of 350 Queensland apprentices. Selection is based on your application, not first-come-first-served, so it’s worth taking the extra two minutes to make yours count.
When will I hear back?
Within 5 business days of submitting your application. Every application is read individually — if you’re successful, we’ll contact you directly by phone or email to lock in your spot.
I'm 16. Can I apply?
Yes. The Breakers Program is open to any apprentice aged 16 to 22, so being younger doesn’t put you behind — if anything, it means more time to make the most of the mentorship.
What does being a mentor to you actually look like?
Not a classroom instructor and not a one-off guest speaker. Your mentor is someone from elite sport, business or the trades who gives you a real connection into their world — access to events, development sessions, and experiences you won’t find through your apprenticeship alone.
